ResearchKit Survey Builder
ResearchKit Surveys, although powerful and flexible, are widely inaccessible by those who can use the framework the most—healthcare professionals without coding experience. The goal of this project was to create a simple and intuitive editor interface on the iPad that healthcare professionals could use to build and export these surveys for consumption by an app. ResearchKit types and properties could be dragged and dropped in place, edited, and exported into a JSON object that could be serialized and consumed by a client app, requiring no knowledge of ResearchKit’s inner workings to create a fully functional and customizable ResearchKit survey.
Markov Chain Essay Generator
By Junior year of high school, many students have written the same “Great Gatsby Analysis Essay” more than once or twice. The goal of this project was to create a cohesive sounding essay provided a collection of training data. Using a Markov Chain, along with a collection of essays both collected from friends and fellow students and scraped from popular essay sharing websites, a (relatively) cohesive sounding, unique essay was able to be generated consistently. The algorithm took into account placement of words within the essay as a whole to categorize ideas presented to the user, to localize the Markov chain to a specified chapter or concept of the book so that the essay would flow more naturally. The vocabulary was entirely pulled from the training data as a result of the Markov Chain.
The results were exceptional (sounding) written excerpts such as the following:
The Green Light symbolizes a situation of unprecedented prosperity and does not decay. The Hollowness of the novel reflects the stereotype of American society’s bad qualities (fickleness and empty hypocrisy) through the Buchanans’.
As well as more humorous excerpts:
Through the rise of the valley of the ashes, the national wealth, and wild jazz music—epitomized in Chapter 9, Nick compares the stock market. The Buchanans exemplify this stereotype when Gatsby, for example, lives in 1918—the war. The connection between a palpable chill in social and empty hypocrisy.
Native App Template Creator
Mobile apps have gone from pleasant surprise to expected status when it comes to a business’ online presence. Especially in food and entertainment industries, functionality such as menus, online ordering, loyalty cards, and even in-app payment have become must-haves for successful businesses. However, creating and maintaining a custom mobile app is out of reach for all but large chains and corporations. The goal of this project was to create app templates for restaurants, venues, and conferences (to start), configurable with a single hosted JSON file, which are 100% natively developed and maintained with the latest platform features, with which even the largest of chains have trouble keeping current. Through integrated smart automation systems based on top of existing toolsets such as Fastlane, every step from initial project creation, branding application, and distribution is automated with each new update to the template, meaning every customer gets regular bi-quarterly updates to their apps instead of requiring constant communication with developers to enable new features that come with every iOS or Android update.
App2Cap
App2Cap is a platform for funding, planning, and creating your next mobile app idea. Created before the likes of Kickstarter and Indiegogo became the de-facto mobile app funding platforms, App2Cap offered software industry specific functionality catering to smaller creators in order to not only fund, but also create the next big idea. In conjunction with a network of skilled, vetted freelancers who can help design and develop a founders idea to reality, App2Cap is the best platform for funding and creating the next “app for that.”
Flat Red Button
With the launch of iOS 7, Apple dropped the heavy use of realism within their mobile platform in favor of a flatter, more minimalist design system they would continue to refine over the years to come. However, everyone’s favorite category of “Do Not Press The Button” apps were left in the dust with their skeuomorphic designs. Not for long! Flat Red Button keeps your favorite red button current with that Apple Human Interface Guidelines—doing away with all the gloss, shadows, and wooden table surfaces that plagued original takes on this classic entertainment app.
